Hofstra Athletics Recognized At Student Leadership Awards Event

The Hofstra University Department of Athletics was honored within the 30th Annual Hofstra Student Leadership Awards Ceremony on Wednesday with a set of two awards.

Each year the Hofstra Student Leadership Awards recognizes outstanding students, student organizations and folks the campus community who significantly promote the development of student life at Hofstra.

Athletics earned the superb Neighbor and Community Service Event for this year Awards from the Department of Student Affairs, Student Leadership & Activities.

“We are thrilled that this outstanding are employed in our student-athletes remains to be recognized,” commented Hofstra Second in command and Director of Athletics Jeffrey A. Hathaway. “We ask our student-athletes to get the top they are often while in the classroom, surrounding the fields of play as well the area. To become acknowledged for use the location are some things special and we’re quite pleased with them as well as involvement with the group.”

The “Shake-A-Rake” program earned Athletics the best Neighbor Award, as the “Reading with Pride” program allowed the department for taking home your neighborhood Service Event honor.

In November, Hofstra student-athletes loved the streets with rakes on your mind, desperate to assist community members pay off the leaves from their site properties.

The “Reading with Pride” endeavor is sponsored due to Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) along with a plethora of Hofstra student-athletes visited local elementary schools to check a frequent books for your children.

Candidates to your “Good Neighbor Award” are students who reside off-campus and develop relationships in relation to their neighbors and the mouth area . embody the P.R.I.D.E. principles locally. They also live purposely by educating themselves and various students who live off-campus by demonstrating exemplary leadership, organization, and hospitality.

Candidates for that award of “Community Service Event for the Year” must link with a non-profit organization and formulate a meeting that fosters collaboration and shared giving, displays acts of compassion that supply as a role model with other campus organizations, and raises awareness to get a cause that promotes action and reaction. The award is given to students and clubs who collaborate with all the current Division of Student Affairs and reinforces humanitarian improvement accompanied by academia.
