Herbert School Students Win NY Women in Communication Scholarships

Vanessa Powell (above, left) and Elisa Tang (right), juniors from the Lawrence Herbert School of Communication, are recipients with this year’s Nyc Women in Communication (NYWIC) scholarships, which has been awarded on such basis as academic excellence, need, together with a demonstrated persistence with the communication industry. ? ??

Powell and Tang, along with 16 other regional winners, can be honored on Monday, April 28 for the NYWIC’s Matrix Awards luncheon in Nyc.?? This year’s event could be hosted by Kathie Lee Gifford and Hota Kotb together with the fourth hour of NBC’s “Today” show; presenters include Queen Latifah, Christiane Amanpour, and Gloria Steinem.

Powell is majoring in public areas relations, possesses completed internships with Redbook, Ralph Lauren Global, and Cameo PR.?? This wounderful woman has written for CollegeFashionista.com, volunteered at Teen Vogue events, freelanced for Better Homes & Gardens, and recently started her own style blog often called Styleness.

Tang, who may perhaps be studying broadcast journalism, worked as kitchen staff as being a production intern at MTV Digital, a blogger for Hofstra Today, along with a contributing writer at TheCelebrityCafe.com.?? She’s also assistant news editor at WRHU 88.7 Radio Hofstra University, where she’s numerous “Morning Wake-Up Call” with the producer of her original talk show, “Inspiration and Sass.”

The NYWIC Foundation may be a public charity founded in 2000 which assists to women successfully enter the communications industry with financial support, professional guidance, and academic programs.? Oahu is the largest foundation for communications scholarships for female while in the tri-state area.
