WCCUSD’s annual Nutrition, Conditioning Festival to get residing in RichmondApril 27, 2019
An annual school district event that’s in excess of 20 years tackled kids by promoting healthy lifestyles to local families normally takes place again Thursday at Highland Elementary School in Richmond, the district announced Tuesday.
The 22nd annual Nutrition, Fitness and health Festival, hosted via the West Contra Costa Unified School District (WCCUSD) Food Services Department, will run from 8:30 a.m. to:30 p.m. at Highland Elementary, 2829 Moyers Road.
The theme just for this year’s event is “Cooking it up fresh and healthy with vegatables and fruits for wellness California style.”
The festival’s aim is “to promote school wellness by empowering students and also their families to take on healthy lifestyles also to take initiative to be physically active and nutritionally responsible,” the district said within a statement.
The event include presentations and activities for example a healthy cooking segment for young students; an excellent, educational performance on wellness; nutrition education on vegetables and fruits, along with a farmers’ market tour of California grown local fruits and vegetables; taste testing; and promotion of basic activities through Fitness for Wellness events like Zumba/Dance, the Restaurant relay, the Farm To Table Relay, the Wheel of Nutrition and even more, in line with the statement.
