Salesian girls basketball coach named Coach of the season

Steve Pezzola, head coach with the powerhouse Salesian College Preparatory girls basketball team, has been named the NorCal Preps Division IV Girls Basketball Coach of year.

Pezzola led they with a 28-4 record this past season, winning the North Coast Section Division IV title and earning a trip to the State Open division tournament.

What can be most impressive about this year was how Salesian cleared up losing star guard Mariya Moore to graduation following your previous season. During Moore’s senior year, the Pride won their NCS IV title and played in the championship game of their state Open division tourney.

While Moore is constantly shine with the University of Louisville, the Pride have maintained their winning ways and proved they’ve got lots of other weapons.

Pezzola needs a number of credit to the, school officials say. In six seasons with Salesian, the coach has has the Pride to 3 state championship games.

“Per year the bar gets raised, and Steve’s teams continually rise into the challenge through labor and dedication,” said Tim Chambers, Salesian’s principal and president.

Pezzola’s respond to finding the Coach of the season honor would be to be aware that as coach, he’s got more to understand.

“I feel that, like players, coaches have to aquire better each and every year,” Pezzola said inside of a statement. “When seasons end, I try to examine whatever i can achieve better during games, the things i can perform better at practice.”
